Loving mother, devoted grandmother and great grandmother Beverly Malagon peacefully departed this earthly life on December 18th 2022 at the age of 86. Beverly was predeceased by her mother, Eva Spragg, her father, Charles Spragg, and her brothers Gaylen, Roger Denny, and Steve Spragg. Beverly is survived by her daughters Karla Allison Westbrook and Lisa Allison Blohm and her grandchildren, Krista Hamar; Keri Keefe, Logan Connally, Andrew Connally, Christina Smith, Sarah Fehr, Joseph Fehr, James Fehr and Johnny Fehr plus 8 great grandchildren.
Beverly was born in Oelwein, Iowa where her family lived on a farm. As a young girl her family relocated to the Tacoma area where her father worked as a longshoreman at the Port of Tacoma. Growing up she attended Midland Elementary and Franklin Pierce High School. For most of her working years Beverly lived in West Seattle and worked in customer service / sales at Whirlpool Corporation. After a long career with Whirlpool Corp. she became a Realtor and an investor in real estate in West Seattle.
In 1992, she moved to Port Hadlock to be near her daughter, Lisa and her grandchildren Logan and Andrew and then moved with them to Port Townsend in 1995. While in Port Townsend she worked for a time as a seamstress for Kaleidoscope.
In 2003, at the age of 67, she purchased The Kuhn Building on Water and Polk Streets and thus began her era as Historic Building owner. This enabled her to make new connections and she was soon involved in many civic minded activities. She served on boards with Main Street and its Design Committee, The Jefferson County Historical Society (JCHS) and her condo board at The Edgewater. She was a regular volunteer at Main Street functions and helped the JCHS with their historical city tours. Beverly was an avid supporter of local arts and artists and enjoyed having them and other creative types as tenants in her building.
In her free time Beverly enjoyed reading, gardening, sitting on her porch in the sun, and visiting with friends & family. In earlier years she enjoyed having parties, skiing, sewing and traveling to see family.
Beverly sold The Kuhn Building in June 2022 at age 86, when she finally retired.
Beverly will be remembered by all who met and knew her as courageous, dynamic, generous, good humored, witty and sometimes outspoken. Her family will miss her greatly and will always cherish her, as she was above all the most amazing mom and grandma one could ask for.
If you'd like to make a donation to charity in honor of Beverly, she was a regular supporter of The Salvation Army.
