Cameron Michael Dean

January 20, 1984 — February 2, 2023

Cameron Michael Dean of Port Townsend, WA died unexpectedly on Feb 2, 2023. A Washington native, born January 20, 1984, he spent his childhood in Gig Harbor, and joined the Port Townsend community 3 years ago. He is survived by his mother and father, Connie and Michael Dean, his cherished partner and soulmate, Brittany Bolling, his sister and brother-in-law, Erin and Nick Baseley, and nephews (the Baseley Swim Team) Connor, Matthew and Joshua, his Aunt Moira and James Funk, and their families, and his Uncle Mike and Brenda Stamper. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Jackie Stamper, and Joseph and Letha Dean and his father’s sister, Sharon Roper. He also leaves a determined terrier mix, Biscuit, who gave unconditional love as his faithful and loyal canine companion.

Cameron was a talented athlete, excelling at most sports, but baseball was his game of choice. From T-Ball to Little League to Select Ball to Jr. Olympic Baseball Team, his skill as a pitcher made him a valued team member. He loved playing with many teams throughout the years, but playing on Gig Harbor's Championship Pirates team was among his most treasured memories. He was delighted to introduce Brittany to the Mariners last year and his love of the game must have been infectious because together they stirred the crowd surrounding them to raucous cheers. Please share your baseball stories so we can celebrate those special times.

Cameron trained with Premium Distribution in Centreville to acquire a Commercial Driver’s License. There, he skilfully navigated the narrow cobblestone streets and backroads of Alexandria and the greater D.C. area delivering "essential supplies” of beer and spirits to local bars and restaurants. His friends and co-workers remember him for his giant heart and kindness and a ready smile.

Cameron joined The Port of Port Townsend as a Hoist Operator last year, quickly becoming a regular character in the Boatyard making friends and acquaintances in that special, close knit Maritime world. It was hard to miss the dark, bushy eyebrows above those flashing dark eyes. Quirky humour, a natural tease, always helpful, he made daily work entertaining for many of his co-workers and Port residents. That they saw the light-hearted side of him and not the shadows is a measure of how much he cared for those he loved and worked with.

It was at one of the Port’s unofficial “Soup Nights” that Cameron met Brittany. The attraction was an undeniable meeting of souls that changed them both forever. That their time together was brief cannot erase the depth of their love for each other.

Cameron was loved and cherished by so many. We all miss him and wish him Peace, knowing in our hearts that a new star lights the night sky and it will shine forever loved.
