Clarence Wesley "Jim" Broughton, Jr.

December 17, 1930 — July 12, 2023

Jim C.W. Broughton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 12, 2023, in his home with his wife in Washington state. Jim was born in Memphis, Tennessee, December 17, 1930. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Broughton, their daughter Katherine, her husband Patrick Van Camp; their 3 children and 9 grandchildren. As well as their daughter Susan and her son, brother Miles Broughton and sister Caroline.


Jim, was a dedicated husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War and was honored for his service in 2017 by the Honor Flight Network. Throughout his life, Jim made a significant impact on the Coburg, OR community. By being a past mayor, sitting on city counsel, volunteering at the schools, the local church, and working at the senior meal programs.


He was an artist, a craftsman and a handyman, always willing to lend his services to anyone. At one point in time, the neighborhood kids brought their bikes to him to repair so much, you would’ve thought he was a bike repairman. His warm personality and storytelling abilities endeared him to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.


Jim's memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and the community he served. His kindness, generosity, and vibrant personality will live on through the countless lives he touched. While he may no longer be with us, the impact he made and the memories he created will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
