Kelly Kevin Cox, age 61, of Port Townsend, WA and Bellingham, WA passed away peacefully after a prolonged battle with cancer on Friday September 17, 2021, at Jefferson Hospital. Kelly was born in Sacramento, CA on April 10, 1960, to Dr. James P. Cox and Jeanne M. Cox. Kelly was an entrepreneur for most of his life. He was actively involved with his parents during his early career contributing to the development of Ultra Riceä and Egglite both internationally recognized inventions. He continued his entrepreneurial ways after his parents passed working on his inventions and ideas. He founded and sold Kelly Green, an organic fertilizer company. Recently he founded The Blessed Bee company, a conservation organization directed at eliminating Colony Collapse Disorder in honeybees. He was known for his creative mind, kind and compassionate heart, and peculiar sense of humor. He loved a great meal and a nice glass of red wine. Kelly could frequently be found reading, with a particular interest in the Roman Legions which led to his recreation of the roman short sword which he called “Gladius”. He covered many miles on his life’s journey and made lasting friendships wherever he lived. Kelly is survived by Laura Cox Torgeson, Duffy (Kristi) Cox and his nieces Cristy Wilder, Mackenzie and Daisy Cox. He is also survived by his 26-year-old cat, Barticus Maximus. Kelly was preceded in death by his parents and sister Florie Cox.
