Marjorie M. Wille

Marjorie M. Wille, 96, formerly of Port Ludlow, Washington, passed away Friday, December 11, at her daughter's home in Quilcene. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond F. Wille (1984); her son, Raymond F. Wille, Jr. (1999); and her sister, Francis A. Merrell (2014). Born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, Marjorie was a daughter of the late Raymond R. and Martha Ruth Houlehan Merrell. She grew up in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, graduated from Upper Darby High School, and received a business degree from Drexel University. She worked briefly as a secretary before marrying her beloved husband Raymond F. Wille. Raymond and Marjorie shared a uniquely close relationship, and raised three children. Marjorie loved being a wife and mother, and also enjoyed sharing her life and family with many friends. Marjorie was a creative, talented, and positive person, who enjoyed life. She was a seamstress, tailor, upholsterer, quilter, knitter, master gardener, and gourmet cook. She played tennis, golf, and bridge. She worked as a voter registrar in Glastonbury, Connecticut, for ten years, prior to moving to Port Ludlow, Washington, to be close to her children and grandchild. Her two sons and son-in-law built her home in Port Ludlow, and she lived there for 25 years, enjoying her family and friendships, as well as golf at Chevy Chase and bridge on Mondays on the bridge deck. She worked as a volunteer in the Jefferson Healthcare Hospital gift shop. Surviving are daughter Lynn Hovde, son Richard Wille, grandson Silas Wille, son-in-law Larry Hovde and children Andy Hovde, Christen Bishop, and Loren Hovde. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done.”
