Michael “Mike” J. Fields Mike Fields, age 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Port Townsend, WA, on August 29, 2021. Mike was born on December 7, 1953, in Port Townsend, WA, to John “Jack” and Marian (Both) Fields. Mike grew up and lived most of his life in Port Townsend; graduating high school in 1972. In 1976, Mike attended Highline Community College. He obtained an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Undersea Technology; earned Underwater Demolition License and Hyperbaric Chamber Operation License. In September 1976, Mike met the love of his life, Lorie Gallaway; they were married March 12, 1977. In June 1977, the couple moved to Louisiana where Mike was employed with James Dean Dive Company. In the fall of 1977, the couple returned to Port Townsend where Mike pursued other employment interests in the fishing industry. He owned his own commercial fishing boat and did long-line and gill net fishing. Mike was employed with Don’s Auto, Murray’s Auto, and John’s Auto/West Bay. Mike became self-employed with Auto Mechanic Business for many years from which he retired. Mike became the proud father of his firstborn child, Mathew in 1981 and second child, Amy in 1983. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. Mike became a proud grandfather to Bailey Fields; Lucas Palmer; Brody Palmer; Mazie Palmer; Angus Palmer. Mike had many interests that include: Diving, fishing, crabbing, camping, gardening, Go-Kart racing, Harley Davidson motorcycles, antique cars and model trains. He loved all types of music and movies. Mike is survived by his wife, Lorie; son, Mathew Fields; daughter, Amy Palmer (Josh); mother, Marian Fields; sister, Kathleen Wadkins (Jim); brother, Joe Fields (Heidi); Aunt Betty Grewell; four grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his father, John “Jack” Fields; grandson, Lucas Palmer; niece, Sarah Fields. Due to COVID, a public service will not be held. Family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for all the love, support and prayers received from family and friends. Memorial contributions are suggested to March of Dimes and/or Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Leukemia.
