Michael James Nannie, born on August 8, 1960, in Newport News, Virginia, journeyed through life with a heart full of music and an unwavering spirit. An extraordinary soul who embraced the world with compassion and, Michael weaved vibrant melodies not just through sound, but through the bonds nurtured with those around him.

His professional path led him to serve as a dedicated repairman for the United States Postal Service, where his meticulous nature ensured that letters and packages reached their destinations. Yet, it was his passion for music that truly defined him, a love that transcended mere hobby to become a cornerstone of his identity. Through the years, he took joy in promoting bands, orchestrating events that brought together musicians and enthusiasts alike, lighting up stages and hearts with synergy and rhythm.

Educated at Nathan Forrest High School in Jacksonville, Florida, Michael was more than a student; he was a vibrant participant in life’s dramatic playbook. Growing up, he shared countless sun-drenched afternoons playing sports with his brother Chris, crafting memories that would anchor them amid life's swirling tides. These boyhood exploits, highlighted by laughter and the occasional sibling rivalry, are echoes of the joy Michael spread wherever he went.

For four years, Michael dedicated himself to his country as a proud member of the U.S. Navy, embodying the values of service and duty. He carried this dedication into his civilian life, treating everyone he met with the same ethos. Music was the balm that soothed his soul, an art form he cherished and nurtured with a fierce passion.

The latter years of his life, Michael would be helping coordinate music festivals like Hempfest and promoting other concerts. His affinity for the craft led him to become quite close with the Hendrix Family, united by the common thread of admiration for the legendary Jimi Hendrix. The relationship led to Michael also helping with the annual Hendrix Birthday Bash benefitting the Hendrix Music Academy.

Michael's journey came to a peaceful close in Port Ludlow, Washington, on April 8, 2025, accompanied by his loving life partner, who had spent the last few years selflessly caring for Michael and his medical needs.

He leaves behind his dear brother Chris Nannie, sister-in-law Carmina Lyons, sister Mechele Crews, niece Jennifer Nannie, nephew Robert Nannie, and life partner Colleen Nannie, whose lives are now woven with threads of his radiant spirit. His parents, Alvin Nannie and Mary Farrell, welcome him into the embrace of the eternal.

Michael James Nannie lived a life resplendent with artistic fervor, familial love, and a passion for service. The echoes of his laughter, the notes of his favorite songs, and the warmth of his spirit will reverberate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
