Rhea Pauline Sheffield

August 20, 1940 — July 18, 2022

Rhea Pauline Sheffield (nee Robson) passed peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2022, but only after she had her dessert. Rhea was the first daughter of Richard and Lois Robson of Grayland, Washington. She was born in Aberdeen and grew up in Grays Harbor. She graduated high school from Ocosta High school in 1958. She had many adventures living on the beach including participating in community theater with her family, living off the land and sea for food and joy, and embracing curiosity of life and the world. Rhea attended and graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science in Bacteriology and Public Health. After college, Rhea moved to California where she married and started a family. She worked as a lab technologist and later worked in various fields including education as a teacher. After divorcing George Sheffield in 1986, Rhea returned to her home state of Washington, living in Grayland and then Port Angeles. She lived a full life that included gardening, cooking, reading, being in nature, and most recently practicing qi gong. She cherished her sobriety and the many people of Port Angeles who supported and loved her for so many years. Rhea is survived by her sister Mary Robson; all of her children – Richard Sheffield, Kathy Sheffield (and partner, Elias Avinger), John Sheffield (and wife, Tonya Sheffield), and Ed Sheffield (and wife, Beth Dadko); and four Sheffield grandchildren – Delaney, John Jr., Orion, and Quinn. All of Rhea’s survivors are proud to carry on her sentiments and traditions. Family and friends plan to celebrate Rhea’s life on August 20 with a potluck picnic at Fresh Water Bay County Park on August 20 at 2pm. Please join us and feel free to email ksheffield@gmail.com with inquiries. Remembrances may be made to Olympic Peninsula Humane Society .
